School Year...2006-2007

Today, August 21st, was the first day of third grade for Lauren and kindergarten for Davis. After much anticipation, both finally fell asleep about 10:15p last night and woke like a rabbit jumping up at 6:45a! We had a great first day and both were very pleased with their classes and the new friends they met!

Davis' teacher is Mrs. Felty and she is super sweet and I had the pleasure of meeting her last year! She is a perfect match for davis in personality and I think he will excel well! David has already helped him learn his first memory verse of the week! Romans 3:23. OH! Another thing, he was so excited to be "handsome" that he picked his outfit out all by himself. If you will notice, he is wearing a "rainbow" belt, blue and yellow stripped shirt (in 101 deg temps!) and a blue and yellow tie! He insisted on the long sleeved oxford and the tie. Mrs. Felty said by 9:30a, both the tie/ belt were gone and his sleeves were rolled "high"....

Lauren's teacher is Mrs. Bartold and we spent the entire summer being tutored by her so I was elated that she already knew Lauren and we have established a bond with her! Lauren's classmates are great and she even had her friend from last year, Daniel, ask to sit by her!

We're IN!!!

Above: This is the backyard. it is very wide with one area all trees and the right side grass. Looks like it's screaming "pool" to me? What do you think? The deck is partially seen on the picture on the right.

Well...I spent about 1 hr last night typing a entry and uploading photos for RoadRunner to have issues and it did not get saved!

Here goes again....We moved in without any glitches...Friday, July 7th we had roofers, maid service and carpet cleaners here all at the same time! It was exciting and chaotic! We had a crew of great guys come over for the weekend and help david lay laminent flooring in the master bedroom/closet and front hall. They did an awesome job, but it definitely took MUCH longer then thought! I also had a few of our male friends help take loads over in their truck that we did not pay the movers to move! Amazing the crap we had in that house!

Well--in the essence of time...I have to be at the vet in 1 hr! here are the photos! We have an AMAZING piece of property that is .33 acres sitting on a cul de sac next to a park. We have NO neighbors on the left side of our home and there are truly only 3 of us in the cul de sac. The kids have LOVED the park as it has a drainage ditch with a bit of water, algea, minows, and a hill area where they ride the skateboard down into the pool of algea. Lovely you say...you should see the laundry I have! We are now on restriction to 1 day per week! The downside of the yard, takes me 2 hrs to mow!

Family Room to the RIGHT. David wanted a largee screen tv last year, but I insisted it went in my entertainment piece, so he was only able to get a 32" HDTV. Well, that is now upstairs in the game room. So, I think he felt this wall looked barren. Wednesday of this week, I get a call saying my "electronics" order is ready for delivery!

Here is my favorite part of the kitchen--the counter stove! Love the wood cabinets and especially the DARK tile! It's very open and makes for nice flow when having company!

I've run out of time....I'll be back later to post the kids rooms and the dining room!

HAPPY 4th of July Weekend!

We are getting ready for one of our LAST dual swim meets on Saturday, then preparing to relax for the 4th of July -4 day weekend! We do not have any great big plans. We are in the debate of going to hang with our church friends, who happen to be very dangerous around explosives! Or to bear the traffic and head downtown Austin and listen to the Austin Symphony down on Town Lake.

Happy 4th of July---May you be thankful for ALL the freedoms we have in our society that we take for granted often!

Fiesta Texas Times!

Tuesday, my friend Andrea and I took our kids to Fiesta Texas! It was divine in that it was NOT too hot and NOT crowded at all! She braved the Texas Rattler and Superman ALONE, and I went on the Poltergiest with her! I was so proud of myself that I actually put my hands up the entire 0-60 in 3 sec start and throughout most of the ride! I definitely liked it better the 2nd time, but Andrea did NOT! The kids had a blast with only a few arguements! We spent a lazy afternoon at the waterpark riding the tubes, slides and surfing the waves in the wave pool. I was the only one with an "injury" the entire day. I bumped my elbow on one of the slides and tore the skin off-ouch! Here are a few pictures of our fun!

Wednesday, June 28, 2006....9 days and counting!

Well, we are amongst a TON of boxes and our home is slowly getting packed up! I was sad this weekend, as I mowed the lawn! Ya'll know--it's my favorite "housework" thing to do! I LOVE our yard-and just feel so calm and relaxed mowing it! It will be sad to not watch our trees grow more and the flowers we've planted come back each year at this home!

1....2...3....SWIM!!!

One of the things that us Shimer's love is to SWIM! We decided to torture ourselves this summer with the grueling 2 month EARLY AM swim team schedule, but overall, the kids love it! This is the first time for both Lauren and Davis and although we've yet to "win" anywhere close to the "top 10"...we're improving our personal times each week and improving strokes daily!

NEW HOME INFORMATION!

412 Water Oak Drive, Cedar Park.....in Silver Oaks Subdivision.....

Here is the house information in a nutshell....it's on a gorgeous lot (175 sf lot!) with a view to a park area to the right of the home. There are only 2 homes at the end of the cul-de-sac, this one, and the one across the street! Essentially, we have only "left" neighbors.

The home is 3 bed/ 2 bath (we went back and forth on this, REALLY wanting a full 3rd bath for Lauren to have her own space) but LOVED everything else about the home that we were fine with one less thing to "clean". The downstairs is comprised of a large study with laminate flooring, a formal dining area, a family room with laminate flooring, and a large open kitchen with ceramic tile; stainless appliances and a cooktop gas range on the counter (which is what I wanted!). There are TONS of closet space. The upstairs is solely and 800 sf game room! David's garage is 2 1/2 --enough room for toys and workbench with a door leading out to the backyard!

Please pray for the details to go smoothly and the tranisition to go off without a hitch!

Saturday-Sunday...It was a BUSY week!!!

This past week was a HUGE whirl-wind! My parents came for a visit on Saturday and stayed until the following Saturday. This was HUGE for my family, as they normally blow in Saturday PM and leave Sunday mid morning!

We spent ALL day Tuesday at Fiesta Texas. We had a blast with my parents and my mom was insane, riding RIDES! She had NO fear! During the course of our day, I received 5 calls from people wanting to view the house! We received 2 offers that day...and by Wednesday at 5 PM-had a CONTRACT! Thursday AM-we had an inspection and David and I were out beating the Cedar Park pavement looking for homes!

Friday, I left with all my ACA friends to spend 2 nights in the glorious Westin-La Cantera Resort in Northwest San Antonio. We had a blast--but "what happened in San Antonio--must stay in San Antonio"...sorry friends...you would be shocked to hear of my "not normal" alcohol induced behavior!

Monday, brought recovery from a hangover and "bus sickness" and David and I looked at 2 houses and FELL IN LOVE with this one! Thus, canceling the remaining 6 homes we were to view!

We spent all day Tuesday negotiating a price and came to one that both parties can agree on!

That is the week in a nutshell. Are your RPM's reving at that insanness? Mine sure are!

We don't have much planned for the holiday weekend. We had a showing today, so we cleaned the little messes and mowed the yard. Otherwise, we have not done much!

Here is a picture of our new nephew, Wyatt and my mom, Dona.

This is an attempt to keep all of our friends and family up to date on what is going on in the busy lives of the Shimer Family! We are currently in the process of selling our home in hopes of purchasing a somewhat larger home closer to the kids school. Keep my house clean as we approach "no school" will be a feat in itself.

We don't have much planned for the summer other then both kids are swimming on the Cedar Park Typhoons Swim team. We have practices daily starting at 8am (what was I thinking you ask?) and meets..ugh..a grueling...6am Saturday's until Mid-July.

We have a new baby boy, Wyatt in our family! Rob and Erin had baby #2 a few weeks ago. So we will travel down to the coast to see them when they are eager for my loud family of 4!

We have season passes to Fiesta Texas/6 Flags..so I imagine we will travel to Dallas/San Antonio a few times to entertain ourselves!

OH! And of course..playing with our not so new dog...RANGER!

Thursday, May 25th.

It's been a tradition since kindergarten to take a "1st and last" day of school picture with our closest friend, Kristofer. It's hard to believe they will be in 3rd grade come August! They are great friends who love to be "wacky" together!

Summer 2006

Amazing that it is, but summer is here already! It sure seems like we were just scrambling to go to Disney World in November. We spent a great last day of school celebrating by eating pizza and swimming at the pool with 2 family friends. It was an insane 95+ and I forgot to reapply sunscreen after 2pm. Needless to say, we are all toasty red! Guess what?? Our public school friends want to go swimming to celebrate their last day today! Not sure what I will do? Lord nows, we DO NOT need sun!
So, here it is...6am on the FIRST full day of summer break...and I am up on the computer! No late morning sleep in for me!
